ENTREPRENEURSHIP OF STIJN
As a early school leaver and a dreamer of owning my own business, I started working in the yacht building industry with barely no experience but with a large working etos. I worked together with my brother, who was already a dedicated wood craftsmen. He taught me all the skills of woodworking and I was able to put my education skills as an electrician further into practice. For 12 years we worked together on all kinds of projects, which enabled me to master all the aspects of yacht building.

As the time came to continue my own path Laura and I started our company ‘Atlas Ship Techniques’. To be able to work on our future as a mondial business, living on the Atlas.
In the preparation years I worked a lot for Dutchcraft/Zeelander yachts, and was able to specialize myself as a senior service mechanic and electric installation engineer.

STIJN AND THE ATLAS INITIATIEF
As a dreamer and yacht builder, the idea of living and traveling on a boat was never far away, together with Laura as a visual artist the dream was able to become realistic and something to put effort in.
The idea to build a self sustainable ship for permanent living was the starting point for the search for a suitable ship.

Finely the Atlas was for us the only real option, because of the price, size and the ability to turn it into a kite-sailing ship.
